WINE DINNER

On Thursday, July 22, 2010, Jacmel Inn will host a wine dinner with Robert Wetzel, owner of Alexander Valley vineyards which is located on the Russian River in Sonoma, California.  The Wetzel family has been growing grapes on their estate since 1963 and making wine since 1975.  All their wines are well constructed by wine make Kevin Hall.  They make a series of Zinfandels that are quite popular and we will save those beauties for another occasion.

Our favorite Alexander Valley wines for this event are:

Aperitif-Gewurztraminer 2008

organically grown from Mendocino

First Course-Rose of Sangiovese 2008

Chianti grape made for a hot summer night!

Second Course-Chardonnay 2008

vibrant flavors, lite French oak, lovely

Third Course-Syrah 2007

with a touch of viognier grape variety

Fourth course-Cyrus (Bordeaux Blend) 2005

76% Cabernet plus Merlot, Malbec, Cab. Franc, Petit Verdot

Our chef Doyle Orlando will craft a menu to accompany this selection of wines.

This maybe the only wine event this summer until our fall wine series begins September 8, 2010 with a Foxen wine dinner with owner Dick Dore’, followed by seven Wednesday s of “Blind wine tastings”.  Event schedule will be sent in August.

You may recall that Hank Wetzel, Robert’s father was at Jacmel Inn last year, and our chef created a great menu to accompany his wines.  The Gewurztraminer and the Rose of Sangeovese are new to us while the next wines are the recent vintage.

Event begins at 7:00 p.m. (or a little before) with dinner beginning about 7:25 p.m.  The total cost for this event is a stunningly low $75 per person.  There is no question that this will be more fun than bowling or darts on a Thursday night in Hammond, America!  Reserve early this may sell out!

Please visit Alexander Valley's web site (click here) for more information about their wines.
